Alanine aminotransferase 1 catalyzes the reversible transamination between alanine and 2-oxoglutarate to form pyruvate and glutamate. Participates in cellular nitrogen metabolism and also in liver gluconeogenesis starting with precursors transported from skeletal muscles. 96Trace’s GPT ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for the quantitative measurement of mouse GPT in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. The density of color is proportional to the amount of mouse GPT captured from the samples.
